8 WAYS WE SPENT NEW YEARS EVE IN 1999

December 28, 2023

Buckle up for a trip down ’99 memory lane!

Back when Y2K had us all questioning our tech and the millennium vibe was all the rage. Here’s a laid-back look at how we rocked New Year’s Eve – from sipping on Welch’s to jamming to the Backstreet Boys.

So, grab your throwback shades and let’s dive into the 8 ways we spent New Year’s eve in 1999!

1.  Freaked out about global computer glitches

Everyone was on edge about the Y2K bug causing global computer issues when we rolled over from 1999 to 2000. We worried about things like utilities and financial systems going haywire.

2. Rocked that futuristic millennium vibe

We all got into the spirit by dressing up with a cool, futuristic style, capturing the vibe of stepping into a whole new century.

3. Sipped on Welch’s sparkling cider

Welch’s sparkling cider was the go-to non-alcoholic choice. We all raised a glass to the new millennium without dealing with any booze side effects.

4. Had our besties crash for a sleepover with cookie dough and bagel bites

Sleepovers with friends were the way to go. We chowed down on raw cookie dough and bagel bites, making it a night to remember.

5. Tuned in for the TRL Top 100 music video countdown

We kicked back and watched MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL) for the Top 100 music video countdown. It was a fun way to reminisce about the year’s hottest songs and artists.

6. Blasted the Backstreet Boys’ “Millennium” album

The Backstreet Boys’ “Millennium” album was the soundtrack of the night. We cranked up the volume, adding to the party vibe.

7.  Tuned in to the Boy Meets World New Year’s Eve episode

(Train of fools)

TV was a big part of the night and we made sure not to miss the special holiday episode of Boy Meets World. It was a must-watch tradition.

8. Sporting those wild 2000s New Year’s glasses

Everyone was rocking those over-the-top glasses, especially ones with the year 2000. It was a goofy and fun way to get into the New Year’s Eve spirit.

So, that’s our ’99 NYE throwback 8 ways we spent new years eve in 1999 – from Y2K stress to Welch’s to Backstreet Boys vibes. Good times, right? Thanks for hanging out on this trip down memory lane.
