Where to find Miss 2005:
Q&A
HI! My name is Nicole Randone, but you may know me a little better as Miss 2005. I love One Tree Hill, DVDs, Motorola Razrs, and my ultra low-rise Hollister jeans!
Why 2005?
It’s a funny story! Everyone always assumes there’s a reason behind why I picked 2005, but the truth is, it wasn’t actually me who chose it. Growing up, I was nicknamed “Miss 2005” by my close friends and family. 2005 was just my destiny!
How did you get involved in creating?
I’ve dreamed of being an Influencer ever since I was a little girl. When I was in 3rd grade, the show iCarly premiered on Nickelodeon, and from that moment forward I knew creating was what I wanted to do; no matter what form it took on. It was extremely taboo to say you wanted to work in Social Media at the time, and not many people believed I could do it. My own High School Guidance Counselor told me it was an “unrealistic goal,” but that never swayed me. There has never been a moment in time where I saw myself as anything other than a creative!
What is it about nostalgia for you?
Nostalgia looks different for everyone, and for me, I credit my passion for nostalgia to my older brothers, Christian and Michael.
Everything I love about the 2000s is only because they loved them first. Creating nostalgia content makes me feel like I’m back under one roof with them, listening to that era of music on their ruby red radio and watching movies that were wildly outside of my age demographic at the time. I wouldn’t be Miss 2005 without them.
Most recently you got a really big follower following you … can you tell us all about it?
CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY!!!!!! Omg. I’m still freaking out. Like I can’t even tell you.
This is going to sound SO silly, but Chad Michael Murray is the only constant in my life. I grew up watching him in movies like Freaky Friday and A Cinderella Story, and later on as a teenager, I discovered him on One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls. There has never been a point in my life where I didn’t know who Chad was. He’s the human embodiment of the 2000s for me! Having his support means the world to me and it’s more than I could ever want or ask for.
You have also had a lot of other big things happen this year … can you tell us about them?
SO much is going on lately! I was most recently featured in The Guardian and The New York Post posing with my Mary Kate & Ashley landline from 2003! As a NY native, being printed in The New York Post was a HUGE deal for my family and I. Seeing my parents reaction to my picture in their favorite newspaper is a moment I’ll never forget.
I’ve always seen you as one of the kindest, humble creators … you are truly a girls girl! Any advice to the girlies out there on how to keep positive and support one another?
This question is going to make me cry! I love you so much. Thank you so much for saying that, seriously.
Something that not a lot of people know about me is that I was bullied my entire school career. It eventually led to me needing to leave my public school in order to be homeschooled. The experience was difficult for me. I’d never want anyone to feel the way I did. Being kind and showing compassion goes an EXTREMELY long way. You never know what someone else is going through, and you never know how badly someone else may need your love and support. Being the person I once needed for others is one of my biggest priorities.
Where do you hope to see yourself a year from now?
I hope to continue growing, creating, and making others happy with my content! And just for fun… I’d love to be on the cover of a magazine!
What about 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to see myself living somewhere outside of New York. My favorite show is One Tree Hill, and I’ve always fantasized about what it’d be like to live where the show was filmed in Wilmington, NC. Maybe I’ll find my own Nathan Scott there!
I’ve also seen you killing it in your fit girl era … any advice to those just wanting to do something more for themselves this year? All the self love tips!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Working out has easily become one of my biggest passions over the past couple of years. I love to do cardio on my pink spin bike, I love to lift weights, and I love doing pilates! I never viewed myself as very “athletic” until recently, and I realized that was just a limiting belief I put on myself. Working out can feel so intimidating- especially when you’re just starting out. For me, I only do exercises that I genuinely love. If something feels daunting to you, don’t do it! It’s all about what’s fun and what makes you feel good. And I have so many 2000s inspired playlists to go along with each exercise! It has helped my anxiety and self esteem tremendously.
If social media ever disappeared one day, I think I’d be a trainer!
Name 5 songs that would have to be on your playlist …
1.) “Dirty Little Secret” by The All American Rejects
2.) “Summer Girls” by LFO
3.) “On The Way Down” by Ryan Cabrera
4.) “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” by Fall Out Boy
5.) “Miss California” by Jack’s Mannequin
What celebrity do you feel influenced you most?
Paris Hilton. I love that she wears lots of pink, plays dress-up, and has stuffed animals/Barbie dolls in her room. She taught me that growing up doesn’t mean you need to lose what you love.
How would you describe your style?
I’m very inspired by the girls from my favorite 2000s TV shows and movies! I always joke that my style is what happens when a 2000s kid grows up and gets adult money- I always loved dressing up my Barbie dolls, and now I’m the Barbie!
Favorite 2000’s movie?
It’s a tie between A Cinderella Story, John Tucker Must Die, and The Lizzie McGuire movie.
A phrase you would leave for a nostalchick?
Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
