DISNEY WORLDS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Disney fans, buckle up because we’re taking a trip down memory lane and check how Disney lovers celebrated a quarter-century of magic and wonder at the most magical place on Earth – Disney World!

The festivities for the 25th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort spanned from October 1, 1996, to January 31, 1998. During this time, Cinderella Castle underwent a magical transformation, becoming a colossal pink birthday cake adorned with faux icing, lollipops and gumdrops. Adding to the enchantment, the castle boasted 26 candles – one for each of the 25 years and an extra for prosperity.

The celebration at the Magic Kingdom was nothing short of spectacular, featuring notable speakers like Roy E. Disney, then-CEO Michael Eisner and former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. The event reached new heights with a thrilling flyover by U.S. military jets, leaving guests in awe.

This extraordinary procession showcased six colossal floats, each stretching up to 55 feet in length and standing 22 feet tall. These floats, adorned with beloved Disney characters, were accompanied by dancers and performers dressed in vibrant costumes, all singing the jubilant 25th anniversary theme song, “Remember the Magic.” It was a spectacle unlike any other, captivating guests and leaving them with cherished memories of Disney’s magical milestone.
